# Creating Rules

Learn how to create and manage conditional rules for your Add to Cart button

### Creating Your First Rule

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Navigate to Rules Page**

Go to **WooCommerce → Conditional Add to Cart** in your WordPress admin
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Click "Add New Rule"**

Click the button to create a new rule
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Name Your Rule**

Give your rule a descriptive name (e.g., "Hide Add to Cart for Guests")
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Add Conditions**

Click "Add Condition" and select when the rule should activate. You can add multiple conditions that must all be true (AND logic).

For OR logic, click "Add Condition Group" to create an alternative set of conditions.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Set "Which products should be affected?"**

Choose which products this rule affects:

* **All Products** - Rule applies to every product
* **Specific Products** - Select individual products
* **Product Categories** - Select categories
* **All Except Products (Pro)** - Exclude specific products
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Choose Action**

Select what happens when conditions match:

* **Disable** - Remove the button completely
* **Customize** - Change button text, color, or redirect
* **Replace** - Show custom HTML instead
* **Quote (Pro)** - Show quote request form
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Save Your Rule**

Click "Save All Rules" at the bottom of the page
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Rule Created!**

Your rule is now active. Visit your product pages to see it in action.
{% endhint %}

### Managing Rules

#### Rule Priority

Rules are evaluated from top to bottom. The first rule that matches will be applied. Drag and drop rules to reorder them.

#### Enable/Disable Rules

Toggle rules on or off without deleting them. Useful for testing or seasonal rules.

#### Editing Rules

Click on any rule to expand and edit its settings. Changes are saved when you click "Save All Rules".

#### Deleting Rules

Click the trash icon to delete a rule. This action cannot be undone.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Pro Tip**

Create specific rules first, then general rules. Since rules are evaluated top-to-bottom, specific rules will take priority.
{% endhint %}

### Variable Products

The plugin fully supports variable products. You can:

* Apply rules to the parent variable product (affects all variations)
* Apply rules to specific variations only
* Use variation-specific conditions (like price or stock status)

# Conditions

### Understanding Conditions

Conditions determine when a rule should activate. You can combine multiple conditions using AND/OR logic to create sophisticated rules.

{% hint style="info" %}

### Combining Conditions

#### AND Logic (Within a Group)

All conditions in a group must be true for the rule to activate.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Example: Hide button for guests on expensive products**

`Condition 1: Session Status is Logged Out`

`AND`

`Condition 2: Product Price Greater than or equal to 100`

Both conditions must be true for the rule to activate.
{% endhint %}

#### OR Logic (Between Groups)

Click "Add Condition Group" to create alternative conditions. If ANY group matches, the rule activates.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Example: Hide button for guests OR wholesale customers**

`Group 1: Session Status is Logged Out`

`OR`

`Group 2: User Role is Wholesale Customer`

If either group is true, the rule activates.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Pro Tip**

Start with simple conditions and test them. Then add more conditions to refine your rules.
{% endhint %}

# Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions

### Rule Not Working

If your rule isn't activating:

* Check that the rule is enabled (toggle switch is ON)
* Verify "Apply To" settings match your products
* Test conditions individually to find which one isn't matching
* Clear browser cache and test in incognito mode
* Check rule priority - rules are evaluated top-to-bottom

### Button Still Showing

If the Add to Cart button still appears:

* Ensure your theme uses standard WooCommerce hooks
* Check for caching plugins and clear all caches
* Disable other plugins temporarily to check for conflicts
* Try a different action (e.g., Customize instead of Hide)
* Contact support with your theme name for compatibility

### Variable Products Not Working

For variable product issues:

* Make sure you're using Pro version (free doesn't support variations)
* Select the parent product OR specific variations in "Apply To"
* Test with a simple product first to isolate the issue
* Check that variation-specific conditions are set correctly

### Quote Emails Not Sending

If quote request emails aren't arriving:

* Check spam/junk folders
* Verify email address in rule settings is correct
* Test your site's email with a plugin like WP Mail SMTP
* Check server email logs for delivery issues
* Try a different email address to rule out email provider blocks

### Customize Action Not Applying Colors

If button colors aren't changing:

* Your theme may have very specific CSS that overrides colors
* Try adding !important in custom CSS if needed
* Check browser developer tools to see which CSS is winning
* Some themes use JavaScript to style buttons - contact support

### Performance Issues

If your site is slow after installing:

* Reduce number of rules if you have many (combine where possible)
* Use specific "Apply To" instead of "All Products"
* Enable object caching on your server
* Ensure you're using the latest version of the plugin
* Contact support\` for performance optimization tips

{% hint style="warning" %}
